Report: Browns top pick remains unsigned
The Sports Xchange
The Browns and No. 12 overall pick Danny Shelton have yet to agree on a contract despite previous reports, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reported Tuesday.
Multiple reports Monday said Shelton had agreed to a four-year fully-guaranteed deal worth $11.7 million, including a $6.7 million signing bonus.
While Shelton and the team were close to agreement, the Plain Dealer said the report was premature.
Shelton did sign an injury protection waiver to participate in the Browns’ three-day rookie camp.
The waiver ensured Shelton he would earn his full slotted rookie contract in the event of a serious injury such as the torn ACL suffered by No. 3 overall pick Dante Fowler of the Jaguars.
On Tuesday, Jacksonville signed Fowler to a $23.5 million deal, with a $15.3 million signing bonus despite the injury.
