Report: Bears interested in Kubiak
The Chicago Bears plan to pursue Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak for their head-coaching vacancy, according to a report Sunday.
Sources told ESPN ‘s Adam Schefter that the Bears also have an interest in Seattle defensive coordinator Dan Quinn for the job.
The Bears reportedly would like to match an experienced head coach with 37-year-old general manager Ryan Pace, who was hired Thursday after 14 seasons with the New Orleans Saints in various roles, including the past two as director of player personnel..
Kubiak, who just finished his first season as Baltimore’s offensive coordinator, did not want to interview for any openings until the Ravens were eliminated from the postseason. That happened Saturday night when they lost their AFC divisional game to the New England Patriots 35-31.
Kubiak, 53, previously was head coach of the Houston Texans from 2006 to 2013. He was 63-66 overall and led the Texans to their first two postseason appearances. He was fired with three games left in the 2013 season.
