Report: Allen’s future with Raiders in doubt

Published

on

Oakland Raiders coach Dennis Allen’s job status is “tenuous at best,” according to ESPN.

The Raiders head into Sunday’s game at the New England Patriots at 0-2 and considered a longshot to win. Allen is 8-26 in his third season as the Raiders coach.

ESPN reported that Allen could be replaced soon on an interim basis by offensive line coach/assistant head coach Tony Sparano.

Team owner Mark Davis reportedly searched for a new head coach after last season before deciding to stick with Allen.

One move for which Allen received praise from the team was deciding on rookie Derek Carr as the starting quarterback instead of disappointing veteran Matt Schaub.

After visiting New England, the Raiders have a “home” game against the Miami Dolphins in London followed by a bye.
