Redskins to Start RGIII vs Eagles
Robert Griffin III turned a solid outing Sunday into another starting opportunity.
Washington Redskins coach Jay Gruden announced Monday the plan is to start RGIII Saturday in a divisional matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles, to be shown exclusively on NFL Network.
“He competed in the first half … hopefully he can build on that,” Gruden said.
Griffin finished 18-of-27 passing (66.7 percent) for 236 yards and a touchdown pass with no picks after taking over for Colt McCoy (neck) in Sunday’s loss to the New York Giants. The quarterback ran for 46 yards on five carries but was also sacked seven times.
