Redskins sign CB Crawford, S Sanford

The Washington Redskins signed cornerback Richard Crawford and safety Jamarca Sanford on Monday.

The 5-foot-11, 192-pound Crawford was drafted by the Redskins in the seventh round in 2012. He appeared in 10 games for the Redskins in 2012, recording an interception and a fumble recovery and adding eight punt returns for a 19.5-yard average.

Crawford, 24, spent the 2013 season on the injured reserve list. He was waived by the Redskins on Aug. 29 before signing to the team’s practice squad two days later. He was released from the practice squad on Sept. 9.

Sanford (5-10, 200) was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in the seventh round in 2009. He spent his first five NFL seasons with the Vikings before being released by the team on Aug. 8.

For his career, the 29-year-old Sanford has appeared in 70 games with 44 starts, compiling 232 tackles, 11 passes defensed, eight forced fumbles, five fumbles recovered, two interceptions and a sack.

The Redskins also signed tackle Terren Jones to their practice squad.

Jones (6-7, 341) signed with the Atlanta Falcons as a college free agent on April 29, 2013. He spent the first 12 weeks of the 2013 season on the Falcons’ practice squad before signing to the team’s active roster on Nov. 26, 2013.

Jones, 22, was waived by the Falcons on Aug. 30 before signing to their practice squad a day later and eventually being released on Sept. 23.
