Redskins sign CB Blackmon
The Sports Xchange
A shortage of defensive backs forced the Washington Redskins to make some personnel moves on Tuesday.
Cornerback Chris Culliver was suspended for one game because of a violation of the league conduct policy, and safety Duke Ihenacho, who is scheduled to have wrist surgery, was placed on the injured reserve list.
The Redskins responded by announcing they signed free agent cornerback Will Blackmon. The 30-year-old Blackmon is in his ninth NFL season and played the past two seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Last season, Blackmon played in eight games, including four starts, primarily as a nickelback.
Blackmon signed with the Seattle Seahawks in March, but was cut by Seattle a week before the season opener.
The Redskins also signed cornerback Dashaun Phillips to the practice squad, and released fullback Ray Agnew from the practice squad.
