Redskins hire former Giants DC Fewell

The Washington Redskins appointed Perry Fewell their new defensive backs coach and Mike Clark as head strength and conditioning coach on Tuesday.

Fewell spent the past five years as defensive coordinator for the New York Giants before he was let go after the 2014 season with one year left on his contract after the team ranked 29th in total defense.

The 52-year-old’s previous stops include defensive backs coach for the Jacksonville Jaguars (1998-2002), St. Louis Rams (2003-04) and Chicago Bears (2005) before becoming the defensive coordinator for the Buffalo Bills in 2006 and later taking over as Bills interim head coach for seven games.

Clark was the strength and conditioning coordinator for the Chicago Bears in 2013-14. Before that, he was with the Kansas City Chiefs and the Seattle Seahawks and also at Texas A&M for 14 years.
