Published

on

The Washington Redskins activated activated wide receiver Leonard Hankerson from injured reserve on Tuesday and waived cornerback Chase Minnifield.

The Redskins also released offensive tackle Terren Jones from the practice squad.

Hankerson tore the ACL and LCL in his left knee last November in a game against the San Francisco 49ers and had surgery to repair the damage. He returned to practice on Oct. 15 after a yearlong rehab.

The Redskins had to activate Hankerson by Tuesday, keep him on the physically unable to perform list for the remainder of the season or release him.

Hankerson, selected by the Redskins in the third round of the 2011 NFL Draft, had 81 career receptions, 1,081 yards and six touchdowns in 30 games, including 14 starts.

Minnifield was a member of the Redskins’ practice squad for three weeks before he was elevated to the 53-man active roster on Sept. 22. He sparingly on defense and was used mostly on special teams.
