Record-breaker? RB Murray’s pinky fractured

Published

on

LONDON — Dallas Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray leads the NFL rushing race by 311 yards, but he has no intention of sitting out Sunday’s game despite a fractured right pinky finger.

“I think he’ll be OK,” coach Jason Garrett said.

Murray, who has 1,133 yards in nine games, is on pace to challenge Eric Dickerson’s single-season mark for rushing yards. He also happens to be in a contract year, with free agency looming in March.

Jacksonville is 24th in the NFL against the run and allowed 191 rushing yards at Cincinnati last week.

“DeMarco’s our bell cow, our workhorse,” Garrett said. “He’s going to get the football. We’re going to run the ball and he’s going to be the guy who carries it more than anybody else. But we believe in the other guys. … DeMarco’s a big piece of this thing.”

The injury, though not listed on the injury report, could be a factor in Sunday’s game for the NFL’s leader in carries (225). Murray also has an NFL-high five fumbles this season.
