The move was signaled by the team bringing in veteran, potential future Hall of Famer Devin Hester for a workout.
Reynolds wasn’t able to make much of an impact during the preseason as he played 84 snaps and caught just two passes as he tried to make the move from option quarterback to wide receiver/ kick returner.
Football Insiders talked to Reynolds about switching positions during the draft process.
“It’s been interesting, but not that bad,” Reynolds told Football Insiders on making the switch from quarterback to running back. “There’s definitely some things I have to learn, and maybe put on some weight to help with blocking. It’s been an awesome experience.”
Reynolds finished his college career with 88 career touchdowns, which is a FBS record, and 4,559 rushing yards, which is a record for quarterbacks. Transitioning to a new position is never easy, but he drew a fair amount of interest from numerous teams in the NFL and he is a great leader and role model. This could afford him a shot somewhere in the league or at least on someone’s practice squad.
