Ravens TE Daniels out vs. Bengals
Baltimore Ravens tight end Owen Daniels will not play this week and appears doubtful for the next game, too, after undergoing minor surgery on his left knee, coach John Harbaugh said Friday.
Daniels, who has replaced the injured Dennis Pitta as Baltimore’s top tight end, will miss the Ravens’ big division battle at Cincinnati on Sunday.
“After that, he has a chance to come back,” Harbaugh said. “So, it’ll be week to week after that and it won’t be many weeks at all. It could actually be next week (at Pittsburgh). That’d be the optimistic approach, but it could happen.”
With Pitta out for the season with a hip injury, rookie Crockett Gillmore is expected to replace Daniels.
Daniels and Pitta had combined for 43 catches for 380 yards, and Daniels had scored three times. Gillmore, a third-round pick, has three catches for 29 yards over the past two games.
