Ravens’ Forsett hits 1,000 yards for first time in career

OWINGS MILLS, Md. — Running back Justin Forsett continued to make the Baltimore Ravens look smart for signing him after he was cut by Jacksonville.

Forsett has played for six teams since 2009, but he may have finally found a home in Baltimore.

In Week 13, Forsett had 106 yards on 24 carries and eclipsed 1,000 yards for the first time in his seven-year career. Forsett has 1,009 yards, fourth best in the NFL.

“That’s a great accomplishment, I think, for Justin, obviously,” coach John Harbaugh said. “His story is well-documented and he’s having a great year. So, it’s something to be really proud of, for the offensive line as well, wide receivers and everybody else who’s blocking.”

Forsett has three straight 100-yard games and five on the season. He is ready to finish the season strong.

“That’s been my goal every year since I’ve been in the NFL,” Forsett said about the 1,000 yards. “It’s a big accomplishment and I just have to keep pushing.”

–Even though the Ravens cut ties with Ray Rice earlier in the season, the team is still dealing with ongoing questions about the former running back’s domestic-abuse case. Rice was reinstated Friday, and Harbaugh was asked Monday whether Rice still had a future in the NFL.

“I can’t speak for any other team. I have no idea how that will play out,” he said. “But Ray and (wife) Janay are very good friends of ours as a family, and we wish them nothing but the best professionally, nothing but the best family-wise. I’m sure things will work out well for them, because they are good people.”

When asked whether the Ravens would ever be interested in re-signing Rice, Harbaugh declined to speculate. “I’ve said all I need to say on that, thanks,” Harbaugh said.
