Ravens choose Trestman as OC

Published

on

The Baltimore Ravens moved quickly to hire a replacement for the departed Gary Kubiak, announcing Tuesday that former Chicago Bears head coach Marc Trestman will become the new offensive coordinator.

Kubiak left Baltimore to take the head coaching job with the Denver Broncos. Trestman was fired by the Bears at the end of the 2014 season after two years in Chicago.

Trestman was working as the head coach of the Montreal Alouettes in the Canadian Football League when he left in 2013 for the Bears. Before that, he served as a coordinator for several NFL teams, including the Oakland Raiders, Arizona Cardinals, San Francisco 49ers and Cleveland Browns.

After the Bears let him go, Trestman attracted interest from multiple teams around the league before he landed with the Ravens.

Kyle Shanahan was reported to be one of the candidates the Ravens considered to fill Kubiak’s role, but Shanahan has agreed to become the offensive coordinator for the Atlanta Falcons.

Trestman posted a 13-19 record in his two seasons with the Bears, who failed to reach the playoffs under his guidance.
