Rams reportedly discuss extension with QB Foles
The Sports Xchange
The St. Louis Rams reportedly are talking to quarterback Nick Foles about a contract extension.
Foles, acquired in a deal that sent quarterback Sam Bradford to the Philadelphia Eagles this offseason, is entering the final year of his rookie contract and the Rams apparently think he is the answer to their longstanding QB problems, Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reported Monday.
Foles emerged as the Eagles’ starter in 2013, completing 64 percent of his passes and throwing 27 touchdown passes and just two interceptions as the Eagles advanced to the playoffs for the first time since 2010.
But last season he was not as stellar. Limited to eight games because of a broken collarbone, he hit 59.8 percent of his throws, with 13 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.
But the Rams have been impressed by him in just three months. Coach Jeff Fisher recently said Foles has taken charge of the offense.
“In the Phase 1 where the coaches can’t be present, he took the players out, the skill players and offensive players and threw and did those things. Since then, he’s been doing great,” Fisher said. “Everything that we heard is true, and I’m sure we’re going to be surprised as we move ahead with him because we’ve been really pleased.”
