The St. Louis Rams placed outside linebacker Alec Ogletree on injured reserve with a designation to return on Tuesday.

Ogletree, who underwent surgery three weeks ago on a fractured right fibula, would be eligible to return to practice on Dec. 13 and for the final two games of the regular season and the playoffs.

Ogletree went down during the second half of the Rams’ 24-22 win over the Arizona Cardinals on Oct. 4. At the time, he led the team in tackles with 55 and still remains No. 1.

With Ogletree sidelined, the Rams (3-3) turned to Mark Barron as his replacement in the starting lineup. Barron produced 16 tackles last Sunday when the Rams beat the Cleveland Browns.

Ogletree has one year and a fifth-year option left on the rookie deal that he signed after the Rams drafted him in the first round in 2013.
