Raiders sign former Eagles S Allen
The Oakland Raiders signed free agent safety Nate Allen. Terms were not disclosed.
He joins a revamped defense in Oakland that has also added linebackers Curtis Lofton and Malcolm Smith and defensive tackle Dan Williams this week.
Allen, 27, was a second round pick by the Eagles in 2010, and has started 69 of 74 career NFL games. The 6-foot-1, 210-pound Allen led Philadelphia with four interceptions last season and tied for the team lead with three fumble recoveries after establishing a career high with 94 tackles in 2013.
Allen was also part of an Eagles pass defense that ranked 31st in the NFL last season, and was the 28th-rated player among safeties who played at least 25 percent of their team’s snaps by ProFootballFocus.com.
