Raiders Select DE Mario Edwards, Jr.
See why the Oakland Raiders selected Mario Edwards, Jr.
After going offensive in the first round with Amari Cooper, the Oakland Raiders decided to beef up the the defensive line. Mario Edwards is an interesting prospect. The former Florida State Seminole has a bad rep of maintaining a good weight. At his pro day, Edwards was 272, but back in August he weighed in at 310.
Which Edwards are you going to get?
His inconsistency with his weight has caused concerns about his discipline, which translates to on the field. Edwards has proven to be a great force when engaged, but there’s been way too many times where he seems content with staying on a block with an undersized guy.
The hope is that Edwards is able to live up to his potential moving forward and if so, it would surely improve Oakland’s 20th ranked run defense from a season ago.
