Raiders QB Carr likely out Week 2
The Sports Xchange
Oakland Raiders quarterback Derek Carr is likely to sit out Sunday’s game with a hand injury.
Carr was scheduled for tests Monday, but ESPN reported the Raiders were ready to rule him out for Week 2, meaning Matt McGloin would be the starter. With no third quarterback on the roster, the Raiders planned to reach out to recently released No. 3 quarterback Christian Ponder.
Carr left Sunday’s game with just under six minutes left in the first half Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals with a hand injury and went to the locker room.
Carr had scrambled on third-and-9 from the Raiders’ 37 and took a big hit from Bengals cornerback Adam Jones, who forced a fumble, which went out of bounds near the sideline.
Carr missed time in training camp with a finger injury, but the two issues are unrelated, coach Jack Del Rio said.
