The Oakland Raiders, who lost two safeties to injuries on Sunday, signed free agent safety Taylor Mays and defensive lineman C.J. Wilson, the club announced Tuesday.

Starting safety Nate Allen reportedly suffered a torn MCL on Sunday, according to multiple reports, and he was placed on the Reserve/Injured — Designated for Return list on Tuesday. That means he cannot play in a game for at least eight weeks and cannot practice for at least six weeks. But at least he might return this season, which was in doubt on Sunday when it was feared Allen had torn his ACL.

Safety Charles Woodson sustained a dislocated shoulder on Sunday, and it is unclear when he might return.

Mays rejoins the Raiders after a short stint with the team during the 2015 preseason. The Raiders signed him in August after he was cut by the Detroit Lions, but the Raiders released him a week before the regular-season opener.

Wilson rejoins the Raiders after playing in all 16 games, including seven starts, for Oakland in 2014. The Raiders released him at the end of preseason this year.

To make room on the roster, the Raiders waived tight end Gabe Holmes.
