Raiders place Roach on IR

The Oakland Raiders placed linebacker Nick Roach on season-ending injured reserve Wednesday and signed linebacker Jamar Chaney.

Roach missed all four regular-season games this year after suffering a concussion during an Aug. 22 preseason game. He played every snap on defense last year.

Roach is signed through 2016 and is scheduled to make $2.8 million next season, but the concussion symptoms he’s still experiencing leave his football future in doubt.

Chaney is in his fifth year in the NFL and has 161 tackles, one sack, three interceptions, 12 passes defensed and one forced fumble with the Philadelphia Eagles and Atlanta Falcons.

Chaney was with the Denver Broncos in training camp this year.
