The St. Louis Rams and quarterback Nick Foles reached agreement on a two-year contract extension through the 2017 season, the team announced Friday night.

The deal is worth approximately $24 million, according to reports. Foles was scheduled to make $1.5 million in the final year of his rookie contract.

Foles is in his first year with the Rams, who acquired him from the Philadelphia Eagles during the offseason in exchange for quarterback Sam Bradford.

Last season, Foles was injured and limited to eight games with the Eagles but had a breakout year in 2013 with 27 touchdown passes and two interceptions while leading Philadelphia to a 14-4 record and the NFC East title.

“(His) body of work is pretty impressive,” Rams coach Jeff Fisher said in an interview with NFL.com on Thursday. “He can make every throw. … Talking to his teammates, they really like the way he runs the huddle and manages the offense. So I’m very pleased with where he’s going right now.”
