Patriots let CB Browner ‘explore his value’
The New England Patriots have given cornerback Brandon Browner permission to “explore his value around the league,” the Boston Herald reported Monday.
Browner is due a $2 million roster bonus on Tuesday and would count $4.8 million against the salary cap this year if the Patriots kept him.
The Patriots just re-signed safety Devin McCourty to a five-year deal worth $47.5 million and must decide whether to keep cornerback Darrelle Revis, who is due a $20 million option bonus on Tuesday.
Browner, 30, signed a three-year deal worth $17 million last year and, after sitting out four games on suspension, started nine games plus three postseason games as the Patriots won the Super Bowl.
