Patriots add Vellano, cut Maneri
Defensive lineman Joe Vellano of the New England Patriots was signed to the 53-man active roster from the practice squad on Saturday, the team announced.
To make room for Vallano, tight end Steve Maneri was released.
Vellano, 26, joined the Patriots as a rookie free agent out of Maryland in 2013.
The 6-foot-2, 300-pound Vellano has played in 21 games for the Patriots, including eight starts, and has registered 54 total tackles and three sacks.
Vellano was released by the Patriots on Oct. 7 and signed to the practice squad on Oct. 8.
The 6-7, 280-pound Maneri, 26, was signed to the Patriots on Dec. 17, 2014, and played only in the season-finale against Buffalo on Dec. 28.
