Panthers RB Williams active vs. Cards

Published

on

Carolina Panthers running back DeAngelo Williams is active for Saturday’s NFC wild-card game against the Arizona Cardinals.

Williams, the Panthers’ all-time leading rusher, missed the last four games with a fractured hand suffered against the Minnesota Vikings on Oct. 30.

Jonathan Stewart has rushed for 486 yards in the last five weeks for the Panthers, starting the last four games. He will start against the Cardinals.

The Panthers listed reserve safety Thomas DeCoud (hamstring) and starting outside linebacker A.J. Klein (ankle) among the inactives. The others are defensive end Frank Alexander, cornerback James Dockery, offensive tackle David Foucault, defensive tackle Kyle Love and offensive guard Amini Silatolu.

Quarterback Drew Stanton (knee) and reserve offensive guard Jonathan Cooper (wrist/knee) are among the Cardinals’ inactives. Stanton had already been ruled out, while Cooper was questionable. Ryan Lindley will start his third consecutive game at quarterback.

Safety Chris Clemons, wide receiver Brittan Golden, defensive end Kareem Martin, offensive guard Anthony Steen and nose tackle Alameda Ta’amu are the Cardinals’ other inactives.
