Packers RT Bulaga (knee) out vs. Seahawks
The Sports Xchange
Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy said Friday that starting right tackle Bryan Bulaga will not play Sunday night against the Seattle Seahawks after suffering a knee injury in practice.
Bulaga departed Thursday’s practice after hurting his left knee. The team initially feared that Bulaga had torn his ACL, but the six-year veteran was later diagnosed with a strained MCL.
“Bryan Bulaga suffered a knee injury,” McCarthy said Friday. “He will be out this week. He is still going through the evaluation process, but he will not play in Sunday night’s game.”
Bulaga suffered the same injury last year in the season opener, and he returned after missing one game. He missed all of 2013 with an ACL tear and underwent reconstructive surgery.
Bulaga, who received a five-year, $33.75 million deal from the Packers in the offseason, typically wears a brace to protect the knee.
McCarthy did not announce a starter at right tackle, but it is expected to be either Don Barclay or Josh Walker. Barclay made 18 starts in 2012 and 2013 before missing last season with a torn ACL.
