Ohio State vs. Oregon NCAA Championship Game Pick

The Ohio State Buckeyes and Oregon Ducks square off Monday in the inaugural College Football Playoff Championship Game.

It’s understandable why Oregon is a favorite in the game.  They’ve been the best team in college football all season long.  They have the Heisman Trophy winner at quarterback and a system that doesn’t look like it can be slowed down.

Oregon didn’t play a great football game last week and topped the defending National Champion Florida State Seminoles by 39 points.

They are a machine.

With that said, it’s tough to make an argument against Urban Meyer as the best coach in college football.  Meyer has developed more quarterbacks than the Arizona Cardinals (who ironically have the best coach in the NFL) and the Buckeyes have improved each and every week since their early season loss to Virginia Tech.

Ohio State isn’t any more battle tested than Oregon, but they did just beat SEC Champion Alabama in the Deep South.  The Buckeyes know all about Oregon’s pace, as they play a similar style of spread offense.

The Buckeyes have more NFL players on defense than Oregon and they are playing with an unbelievable level of confidence, mixed with playing with a chip on their shoulders as they’ve been underdogs for three consecutive games.

Offense should rule the day as there are playmakers on both teams.  Marcus Mariota is the best player in the game, but Ohio State has the better coach and more overall talent on the field.  Therefore….

Ohio State 38, Oregon 35.
