No more tweets for Ravens’ Smith

Published

on

Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Steve Smith decided to stop tweeting, saying Thursday that he wanted to get away from the negativity of social media.

“I’d kill you on Twitter, so I had to stop,” he said. “Somebody said something inappropriate to me, my wife said I wasn’t being a very good example for my kids.”

Smith has more than 92,000 followers of @89SteveSmith. He last tweeted on Oct. 6.

“At the end of the day, what’s on my Twitter feed and what’s going on with the world, I don’t think that should be on the same level,” Smith said.

Smith will continue to use the account for marketing.

“Internet courage is like a Cover 2 corner,” Smith said. “When you got safety over the top, you feel better about yourself. You got that one-on-one coverage, you back off a little bit. That’s how I look at Twitter.”
