Detroit 18, Green Bay 16

The Lions are winning just enough games to keep Matt Stafford as their quarterback next year.  Head coach Jim Caldwell won’t be so lucky.  The Packers have dropped three straight and they miss Jordy Nelson.  Green Bay’s receivers aren’t getting open and Aaron Rodgers needs to take some more chances.

Tampa Bay 10, Dallas 6

The Bucs are still a really bad football team that’s rode a pretty fortuitous schedule to four wins.  Jameis Winston has a flare for the dramatic, but if they were playing a team with even a bad quarterback they would’ve lost.  The Cowboys should probably switch back to Brandon Weeden; at least he led them to points.

Carolina 27, Tennessee 10

The Panthers are taking care of business each week and Cam Newton is the catalyst.  With the struggles of Green Bay and Seattle, this Panthers team could actually go to the Super Bowl.  The Titans offense struggled under mastermind Mike Mularkey.  Who saw that coming?

Chicago 37, St. Louis 13

Jay Cutler is playing really good football and Adam Gase will have his choice of head coaching jobs in two months.  The Rams aren’t good enough at quarterback.  You’re seeing why we didn’t like the Nick Foles trade and now he’s benched in favor of Case Keenum.  Yuck.

Washington 47, New Orleans 14

Kirk Cousins has strung together a few really good home games against pretty bad defenses.  Washington finds itself just a half-game out of first place in the NFC East which likely means a return of Jay Gruden.  Even when you win Redskins fans, you still lose.  The Saints defense is pathetic, and Rob Ryan is fired.  It’s not entirely his fault, as their draft picks and free agent signings have failed.

Miami 20, Philadelphia 19

The Dolphins were able to knock Sam Bradford out of the game, so if you had Week 10 in your pool please collect your winnings.  Miami is actually in Wildcard contention under Dan Campbell (which by no means should equate to him getting the job full-time).  The Eagles received a mulligan from the Giants epic collapse.  If Sam Bradford is out for a while, their slim chances will turn to none.

Pittsburgh 30, Cleveland 9

If Ben Roethlisberger was hurt, it really didn’t look like it as he torched the Browns defense.  Antonio Brown is on a legendary run and he and Martavis Bryant may be the best wide receiver tandem in football.  Johnny Manziel looks considerably better than last year, but his style of play won’t work over the long term.

Jacksonville 22, Baltimore 20

The Jags couldn’t have played a worse football game and still won.  With that, they snapped a 13-game road losing streak and are one game out of first place.  The Ravens simply gave away the football game, and Elvis Dumervil has to be sick.

Minnesota 30, Oakland 14

The Vikings defense has been spectacular and Adrian Peterson is great, but Teddy Bridgewater needs to take more chances if Minnesota is going to have any chance of beating a playoff team.  The Raiders defense isn’t good enough to compete, but they’re young and better days are ahead.

New England 27, New York Giants 26

New England lost wide receiver Julian Edelman, and figuring in their injuries on the offensive line, the Patriots offense is going to take a significant hit.  Tom Coughlin’s clock management is atrocious, and the Giants simply gave away the football game.

Kansas City 29, Denver 13

The Chiefs didn’t have to do much on offense to win, and they really didn’t.  Their defense was opportunistic and people will remember this game for a long time.  Peyton Manning hit rock bottom, and it’s time for the Broncos to move on to Brock Osweiler.

Arizona 39, Seattle 32

It’s official: The Cards are finally better than the Seahawks.  Arizona almost blew a big lead, but they are clearly the better team with the better quarterback.  The Seattle run is over and the league is catching up to Russell Wilson.  He’s not winning from the pocket nearly enough.

Houston 10, Cincinnati 6

The combination of national television and T.J. Yates proved once again to be Andy Dalton’s kryptonite, even in an MVP type of season.  This is why Bengals fans can never feel confident about the postseason with the “Red Rocket” under center.  The Texans could be the best team in the AFC South, which is the equivalent of winning a tallest midget contest.

Buccaneers admit mistake, boot Aguayo

Published

on

In the NFL, it’s always better to admit a mistake than to compound it. For the Buccaneers, the decision to burn a 2016 second-round pick on kicker Robert Aguayo has proven to be a mistake. The Buccaneers made the definitive admission of their error on Saturday, cutting Aguayo. He exits with $428,000 in fully-guaranteed salary [more]
