NFL salary cap projected at $138.6 million
The NFL salary cap is projected to be $138.6 million in 2015, a 4.21 percent increase over this year’s $133 million.
The projection was revealed to NFL owners at their meeting in Irving, Texas.
That number could rise as high as $141 million, two team executives told USA Today.
Last year, the cap was projected at $126.3 million and ended up at $133 million. The final cap number will be determined after a full accounting of league revenues before the start of the new NFL year in March.
Teams also are able to roll over unused cap space for use the next year. According to NFLPA numbers, the teams with the most space to roll over to 2015 are the Jacksonville Jaguars ($22 million), the Cleveland Browns ($19 million), the Philadelphia Eagles ($16 million) and the New York Jets ($13 million).
Adding potential rollovers, the teams with the most projected cap room in 2015 will be the Jaguars (about $63 million), the Oakland Raiders ($58 million), the Browns ($55 million), the Jets ($52 million) and the Tennessee Titans ($42 million).
