Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck was limited in Wednesday’s practice with a right shoulder injury.

Matt Hasselbeck worked with the starting offense in team drills.

Luck was hit 17 times in the first two games of the year before rallying Indianapolis to its first win of the season in Week 3 at Tennessee. His availability for Sunday is likely to be determined later in the week. He last appeared on the injury report in 2012 with a knee injury.

Luck is last in the in NFL in passer rating (65.0) with five touchdowns, seven interceptions and a completion percentage of 56.

—Buffalo Bills coach Rex Ryan said it “doesn’t look good” that running back LeSean McCoy will play Sunday against the New York Giants as he continues to deal with a hamstring injury.

The Bills also could be without wide receiver Sammy Watkins with a calf injury. Watkins left Sunday’s game in the first quarter and did not return.

The Bills will continue to monitor McCoy’s hamstring. He was limited to 34 snaps and gained only 16 yards on 11 carries in last Sunday’s 41-14 win over the Miami Dolphins.

—Wide receiver Victor Cruz, who earlier this week announced his long anticipated return to the field was on schedule for this weekend’s game against the Buffalo Bills, appeared to have a setback in his first practice in more than six weeks after initially suffering a calf strain.

Cruz, who has not appeared in a game since rupturing the patellar tendon on Oct. 12, 2014, in a 27-0 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, did not participate in Monday’s walkthrough but had run routes on grass under the watchful eye of a trainer. His apparent setback occurred inside the Giants field house, which has artificial turf.

—Jay Cutler was on the practice field with the Chicago Bears on Wednesday and there is a chance the quarterback could play Sunday.

Cutler was listed as limited on the Bears’ injury report. Initial estimates called for him to miss at least two weeks with the severe muscle strain, though coach John Fox said the injury was “nothing serious.” Cutler strained his hamstring in a Week 2 home loss to the Arizona Cardinals and sat out last week when the Bears (0-3) were shut out at Seattle.

—Houston Texans running back Arian Foster could return Sunday for his first game of the 2015 season.

Coach Bill O’Brien said the Texans consider Foster a game-time decision for Week 4, when Houston plays the undefeated Atlanta Falcons.

Foster, a four-time Pro Bowl selection, hasn’t played this season because of a groin injury that required surgery in August. But he practiced again Wednesday and has been on the field with the Texans for nearly two weeks, incrementally gaining strength and endurance with an eye toward playing in October.

—The Baltimore Ravens officially ruled tight end Crockett Gillmore (calf) and left tackle Eugene Monroe (concussion) out for Thursday night’s game at the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Gillmore was injured during last week’s loss to the Cincinnati Bengals and Monroe will be replaced by James Hurst for the second consecutive game. Rookie wide receiver Breshad Perriman, who has yet to play this season because of a lingering knee injury, and defensive end Chris Canty (calf) will also miss the game.

For the Steelers, quarterback Ben Roethlisberger (knee) was ruled out along with defensive tackle Daniel McCullers (knee), tight end Matt Spaeth (hand) and linebacker Ryan Shazier (shoulder).

—The New Orleans Saints freed up salary cap space after quarterback Drew Brees agreed to turn a portion of his 2015 base salary into a signing bonus.

According to ESPN.com, the Saints created $2.6 million in cap space by making $5.2 million of Brees’ base salary into a signing bonus. His cap hit for 2016 is now $30 million.

Brees missed the first game of his career because of injury last Sunday against the Carolina Panthers because of a bruised rotator cuff in his throwing shoulder. He’s optimistic he’ll play Sunday night against the Dallas Cowboys as the Saints seek their first win of the season.

—The Pittsburgh Steelers elevated linebacker Anthony Chickillo from the practice squad to the active roster and released rookie defensive end Caushaud Lyons on Wednesday.

Chickillo landed a spot on the Steelers’ 53-man roster after the preseason before he was assigned to the practice squad on Sept. 7. Lyons was an undrafted rookie signee in May by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who waived him before the Steelers picked him up.

—The Washington Redskins signed linebacker Sage Harold to the practice squad on Wednesday after linebacker Ryan Delaire was signed by the Carolina Panthers off the Redskins’ practice squad earlier in the day.

Harold was with the Redskins during the preseason after signing with the Kansas City Chiefs as an undrafted free agent in May. Washington waived Harold on Sept. 5 before bringing him back. Delaire was an undrafted rookie who went to training camp with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He was released during their final roster cuts on Sept. 5 and was signed to the Redskins’ practice squad two days later.

The Panthers released defensive tackle Colin Cole, who started 24 games for the Panthers in 2013-2014. He played in two games this season with one tackle.

—The Tampa Bay Buccaneers promoted tackle Reid Fragel from the practice squad to the active roster on Wednesday.

The 6-foot-8, 308-pound Fragel has spent the first three weeks of the season on Tampa Bay’s practice squad, after spending the offseason and preseason with the Bucs.

The team also signed offensive lineman Antoine Everett and tight end Tevin Westbrook to the practice squad. The 6-3, 325-pound Everett spent this offseason and preseason with Tampa Bay.

—The Cleveland Browns signed third-string quarterback Austin Davis to a two-year contract extension.

The deal is worth $4.173 million, a source told ESPN.com. The deal also includes a $500,000 signing bonus and has $600,000 in total guarantees.

Davis, 26, started eight games for the St. Louis Rams last season, throwing for 2,001 yards, 12 touchdowns and nine interceptions. The Rams cut Davis on Sept. 5 and he was picked up by the Browns on Sept. 7 after he cleared waivers.

—The New England Patriots released linebacker Dekoda Watson from the active roster and offensive lineman Chris Barker, wide receiver Kenbrell Thompkins and defensive lineman Joe Vellano from the practice squad on Wednesday.

Watson has one special teams tackle this year for the Patriots. New England released Watson on Aug. 31 and re-signed him on Sept. 16. He played in two games this season for the Patriots and in 72 during his five-year NFL career.

—Green Bay Packers tight end Andrew Quarless was placed on injured reserve with a designation to return, the team announced Wednesday.

Quarless was knocked out of Monday night’s game against Kansas City after a low hit by Chiefs defensive back Marcus Peters on a reception. Quarless suffered a sprained knee. No surgery will be needed to repair the knee.
