NFL roundup: Browns sign K Hartley, waive Cundiff
The Cleveland Browns signed kicker Garrett Hartley and waived Billy Cundiff on Saturday.
Cundiff did not practice this week due to a sore right knee and was officially listed as questionable on Friday for Sunday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals. The 34-year-old had been struggling this season, connecting on only 22 of 29 (75.9 percent) of his field-goal attempts and had missed a field goal in each of the past five games.
Hartley, a seventh-year player, appeared in 57 games for the New Orleans Saints from 2008-13. He has converted 81.2 percent of his field-goal attempts.
—The Browns fan who accused quarterback Johnny Manziel and his friend of starting a fight with him apologized.
The fan’s apology came via Facebook and was also sent to the Northeast Ohio Media Group.
Police were called after an incident occurred in the lobby of Manziel’s residence on Nov. 22 at 2:36 a.m.
Manziel said the fan approached him and a friend aggressively and appeared intoxicated. The fan said he wanted to greet Manziel.
“I would like to apologize for approaching you the way I did,” Gonos wrote. “All I ever wanted was to show love and give respect. What occurred that night was a huge misunderstanding. Never did I intend to escalate an altercation.”
Manziel will make his first NFL start Sunday when the Browns (7-6) take on the visiting Cincinnati Bengals (8-4-1).

Bowman was activated to the roster Tuesday after missing all season because of ACL and MCL tears in his left knee. However, the team decided to shut him down. Bowman was injured in the NFC Championship Game at Seattle last January. He did not practice this season.
Dorsey tore his left biceps in training camp and did not play this season. He practiced on a limited basis this week.
