NFL roundup: Bills-Jets game to be moved

Published

on

Sunday’s game between the Buffalo Bills and New York Jets, scheduled to be played in Orchard Park, N.Y., will be moved because of excessive snowfall in the Buffalo area, the NFL said Thursday.

“The Jets-Bills game will not be played in Buffalo. We are in process of rescheduling and relocating game as part of Week 12,” NFL spokesperson Michael Signora said Thursday.

When the Bills get another home game is in question. The Week 13 game (Nov. 30) against the Cleveland Browns is no sure thing until state and local assessments are made by relief crews.

At least five feet of snow blanketed most of the region at midday Thursday with more snow falling and as much as two additional feet in the forecast before sunrise Friday.

Among sites under consideration were Detroit, Pittsburgh and Washington. The game could be played any time between Sunday and Tuesday.

The Bills have been unable to practice Wednesday and Thursday and travel and television accommodations are being considered in the logistics puzzle.

–Adrian Peterson formally filed an appeal through the NFL Players Association in hopes of reducing or eliminating a season-ending suspension levied by the league on Tuesday.

Peterson will reportedly argue that he was not granted due process or an objective hearing as outlined under the collective bargaining agreement. Under terms of the CBA, commissioner Roger Goodell would hear the appeal or assign a proxy.

In its official appeal, the NFLPA requested Goodell recuse himself from upcoming hearings related to Peterson. In a letter to players, the NFLPA claims of Goodell “it is clear that you have, by your actions, rendered yourself evidently partial and biased in this matter.”

The NFL suspended Peterson for at least the rest of the season.

–LeGarrette Blount walked out on the Pittsburgh Steelers right back into a contract with the New England Patriots, who signed the veteran running back to a two-year deal.

Blount was released Tuesday by the Steelers a day after he left the field in Nashville before the game ended and without telling coaches.

—Detroit Lions running back Reggie Bush, who missed last weekend’s loss to the Arizona Cardinals because of ankle and foot problems, practiced Thursday, and told the Oakland Press he is “on track” to return on Sunday.

—Doug Hendrickson, the agent for Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch, reportedly said Lynch will appeal the $100,000 levied against him Wednesday for failing to comply with the NFL’s media policy following Sunday’s game.

Hendrickson told ProFootballTalk that Lynch was battered after Sunday’s game. He changed quickly, and went to the team bus. It was then, according to Hendrickson, that Lynch realized he had left without being available to the media.
