Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson will be reinstated by the NFL on Friday, returning to active status for the first time since September, when child-abuse charges involving his 4-year-old son led to seven months on the sideline.

Peterson was informed via a letter from NFL commissioner Roger Goodell that he is expected to satisfy his obligations to authorities in Minnesota and Texas, as well as additional counseling and treatment commitments Peterson made April 7 during a meeting with Goodell, the league said in a statement Thursday.

Peterson will be eligible to participate in offseason conditioning and team workouts.

The Vikings released a two-sentence statement Thursday: “The Minnesota Vikings have been informed by the NFL that Adrian Peterson has been reinstated. We look forward to Adrian rejoining the Vikings.”

—Jameis Winston, projected to be the No. 1 pick in the NFL draft in two weeks, is being sued for an alleged sexual assault.

Attorney John Clune said Thursday that he filed the lawsuit on behalf of the alleged victim, Erica Kinsman, who accused Winston of rape in December 2012. The suit, filed in Orange County, Fla., seeks damages of more than $150,000 for “intentional infliction of emotional distress arising out of forcible rape,” according to the Tampa Bay Times.

Kinsman, a former Florida State student, said she was raped by the FSU quarterback at his apartment, but Winston said the sexual encounter was consensual and police in Tallahassee, Fla., and the state attorney’s office never charged Winston.

The quarterback was cleared of four violations of FSU’s student conduct code hearing after a student judiciary hearing in December 2014.

In January, Kinsman filed a federal lawsuit against Florida State, alleging that the university violated her Title IX rights.

—The Jacksonville Jaguars added a year to linebacker Paul Posluszny’s contract while reportedly lowering his salaries and guaranteeing more money.

He was due to make $7.45 million in each of the next two years, but he will now earn $15 million — potentially up to $18 million — over the next three, a source told NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport.

Posluszny, 30, was limited to seven games in 2014, when his season was ended early by a torn pectoral muscle. Posluszny recorded 69 tackles and two sacks.

Until 2014, he had been over 100 tackles in six straight years with the Buffalo Bills (2008-10) and Jaguars (2011-13). He also had recorded 11 interceptions.

—Washington Redskins kicker Kai Forbath, a restricted free agent, signed his $1.54 million tender Thursday.

Forbath is entering his fourth season with the Redskins. In 40 games, he has converted 88.1 percent of his field-goal tries (59 of 67).

Last season, he hit 24 of 27 (88.9 percent), the third-highest percentage by a Redskins kicker, trailing only Mark Moseley (95.2 percent in 1982) and Forbath’s debut season in 2012 (94.4).
