Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said the franchise was comfortable it had all the information available on their second-round pick, Frank Clark, who was kicked off his college teams two days after a domestic violence arrest.

Clark, 6-foot-2, 277-pounder out of Michigan, was accused in a police report of punching his 20-year-old girlfriend, Diamond Hurt, in the face at their hotel room at a waterpark in Ohio. Hurt’s younger brothers said the same thing. The Seahawks said Monday they did not talk to witnesses who found Hurt yet their final assessment was that Clark had not punched the woman.

Lis Babson, 44, and Kristie Colie, 43, who were in the room next door with their young daughters, told the Seattle Times they ran to Clark’s room pounding on the door when they heard loud banging and screaming. Clark eventually opened the door.

Hurt, half-dressed and motionless on the floor, was just on the other side, the women told the Times.

“She looked unconscious,” Colie said. “She looked like she was knocked out.”

Clark settled the case with a plea deal.

General manager John Schneider said the Seahawks did do a “ton of research” before selecting Clark.

–Arizona Cardinals tight end John Carlson added his name to the early retirements in the NFL this offseason.

After seven years in the league, the 30-year-old Carlson announced that he’s stepping away from the game. He had one year remaining on a two-year, $4.65 million contract he signed in 2014.

The announcement apparently came as a surprise. He did not give a reason for his departure. Carlson had worked out with the team on Monday.

Carlson played in 16 games and started 12 for the Cardinals last season and caught 33 passes for 350 yards and one touchdown.

–Second-round pick Randy Gregory said the Dallas Cowboys did not draft a player with a “weed problem.”

Gregory, the 60th overall selection in the 2015 NFL Draft, failed a drug test at the Scouting Combine in February. The Nebraska pass rusher weighed only 235 pounds, extremely light for a defensive end, and several teams had questions about his position fit and his decision making.

“I think a lot of people are getting tied up in the weed and think it’s just a weed problem. I don’t think it’s a weed problem,” Gregory said in an ESPN Radio interview. “I think it’s decision making. I think I’m immature. I’m definitely working on that.”

–Quarterback Terrelle Pryor was waived by the Kansas City Chiefs, who had five quarterbacks on the active roster.

Pryor, drafted by the Raiders, was previously released by the Seattle Seahawks.

Kansas City waived three other players Tuesday: linebacker JoJo Dickson, long-snapper Jorgen Hus and wide receiver Corbin Louks.

–The New England Patriots released cornerback Alfonzo Dennard, long snapper Tyler Ott and linebacker Deontae Skinner.

–Green Bay Packers outside linebacker Nick Perry can become an unrestricted free agent in March following the team’s decision to decline the fifth-year option on his rookie contract.

The Packers chose to skip the option, which called for $7 million in 2016, and face a bill of only $1,412,625 in 2015.

—Chicago Bears general manager Ryan Pace is making changes to the team’s scouting department.

Pace was expected to bring in several hand-picked evaluators after working with most of former GM Phil Emery’s staff leading up to the 2015 draft.

Pace will not retain college scouting director Marty Barrett, who spent 18 years with the organization.

–Carolina Panthers veteran special-teams coordinator Bruce DeHaven is taking a leave of absence to focus on an undisclosed medical issue.

Russ Purnell will take over DeHaven’s responsibilities. Purnell was Indianapolis Colts special teams coach from 2002 to 2008.

–Former Detroit Lions wide receiver Titus Young received five years of probation in a felony battery case and must stay in a live-in program for one year.

Young pleaded not guilty in July to the felony charge. He was facing up to nine years in prison on four counts of battery in California.

In July, Young lashed out at attorney Brian Hurwitz during a meeting at Martin Luther King Jr. Hospital in Los Angeles. According to a report by the Detroit Free Press, Young “stood up from his chair and punched (Hurwitz) several times to his face. After being punched by (Young), (Hurwitz) said he lost consciousness. After regaining consciousness, (Hurwitz) said he was bleeding profusely from his nose and that his nose was swollen and felt broken. He also had pain to his forehead and jaw area.”

–The Minnesota Vikings announced the signings of 10 undrafted rookie free agents: cornerback Justin Coleman (Tennessee), wide receivers DaVaris Daniels (Notre Dame), Jordan Leslie (BYU) and Gavin Lutman (Pittsburg State), center Tom Farniok (Iowa State), safety Anthony Harris (Virginia), fullback Blake Renaud (Boise State) and guards Jesse Somsel (Sagniaw Valley State) and Bobby Vardaro (Boston College).

—The Miami Dolphins announced that they waived three players — defensive back T.J. Heath, kicker Zach Hocker and defensive back Lowell Rose.
