Wide receiver Bud Sasser, a sixth-round draft pick of the St. Louis Rams, was waived Thursday due to a heart condition.

While the Rams said several doctors recommended that Sasser not play, his agent said not all agreed.

The Rams signed Sasser this week in order to pay him his $113,737 bonus. If he clears waivers Friday, he would revert to the Rams’ reserve/non-football illness list. The Rams would retain his rights unless he was subsequently waived from NFI.

“We did some extensive studies after the draft, very extensive as you can imagine,” coach Jeff Fisher said, “and it was determined and concluded by numerous physicians that he had a pre-existing condition that we don’t feel will allow him to play.”

—New Orleans Saints linebacker Junior Galette reportedly faces possible surgery for a pectoral injury.

Galette, 27, was injured away from the team’s facilities recently and is considering surgery, FOX Sports reported Thursday. Surgery could keep him out for up to six months.

Galette has 22 sacks the past two seasons and is entering the second year of a four-year, $41.5 million contract.

—The NFL is investigating a possible case of domestic violence involving Washington Redskins rookie wide receiver Jamison Crowder, and the player’s agent says he did not hit anyone.

The investigation apparently was spurred by a picture on Crowder’s Instagram page showing a woman with a cut lip and bruises on her body. The images are accompanied by a post apparently written by the woman, who says, “I refuse to let you hurt me anymore physically or emotionally” and references being choked, bruised and “tossed around” and suffering a concussion and “busted lips.”

Crowder’s agent, Tory Dandy, told ESPN.com that the fourth-round pick out of Duke “hasn’t hit anybody” and his Instagram and Twitter accounts were hacked. The photos no longer appear on Crowder’s Instagram page.

—The Denver Broncos placed John Bowlen Jr., son of owner Pat Bowlen, on indefinite leave Thursday in the wake of a domestic violence arrest.

Bowlen, who is a corporate partnerships coordinator for the team, was arrested Wednesday night in Glendale, Colo., according to KUSA-TV.

Bowlen, 29, is accused of shoving his girlfriend against a bathroom wall as she tried to call 911, according to a police report obtained by KUSA.

—NFL owners added a special meeting in August to discuss potential plans for relocating a team to Los Angeles in 2016.

The meeting was not previously planned for 2015 following league meetings in Phoenix in March and last month in San Francisco. At each multi-day gathering, the Los Angeles situation was a front-burner topic.

The Aug. 11 meeting is expected to take place in Chicago, according to reports, and the NFL could determine detailed plans, including a relocation fee expected to be in the hundreds of millions, for bringing a team back to Los Angeles for the 2016 season.

Many owners said in San Francisco at least one existing NFL team would likely play in Los Angeles in 2016. The St. Louis Rams, Oakland Raiders and San Diego Chargers all have stadium plans in the L.A. area.

— The Seattle Seahawks have promoted five members of their personnel department, the team announced Thursday.

Scott Fitterer and Trent Kirchner will be co-directors of player personnel, Dan Morgan will be director of pro personnel, Matt Berry will be college recruiting coordinator and Ed Dodds will be senior personnel executive.

—Convicted murdered Aaron Hernandez will stand trial for a double murder in December.

Jeffrey Locke, a Supreme Court Judge in Boston, set the tentative date Thursday without Hernandez present.

Hernandez was convicted in April of first-degree murder in the shooting death of Odin Lloyd, who was dating the sister of Hernandez’s fiancee.
