New York Jets defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson — already facing a four-game suspension to start the NFL season — was charged Thursday with resisting arrest and several traffic infractions stemming from a high-speed chase in Missouri earlier this month.

Richardson was arrested July 14 in St. Charles County, Mo., after a police officer saw him racing another car on I-64 at speeds up to 143 mph in his Bentley Silver Spur.

According to the police report, Richardson tried to elude the officer by leaving the freeway and turning off his vehicle lights. The officer said he tracked Richardson via his brake lights. Once he had Richardson in custody, the officer said he discovered a loaded gun under the driver’s seat and also smelled “a very strong odor of burned marijuana” in the car. Two other adult males and a 12-year-old boy also were in the car. None of them were arrested.

Richardson also was charged with speeding, following too closely, failing to use lights and failing to obey a traffic signal. Richardson is scheduled to be arraigned Oct. 27 in St. Charles County Circuit Court.

That incident came two weeks after Richardson was suspended by the NFL for an alleged positive marijuana test.

—Tom Brady’s dispute with the NFL is headed to court in the league’s back yard.

Federal judge Richard H. Kyle from Minnesota transferred Brady’s lawsuit to Manhattan, where the NFL first filed to have the suspension upheld. The NFLPA later filed suit with Brady’s approval.

U.S. Southern District Court Judge Richard M. Berman in Manhattan ordered Thursday that all counsel and parties involved “tone down their rhetoric” and suggests a meeting of the minds before judicial proceedings begin.

—Time for quarterback Russell Wilson to land a new contract with the Seattle Seahawks is running out, and on Thursday afternoon it didn’t appear that the sides would agree to a deal before training camp begins Friday.

Wilson reportedly has told the Seahawks he will not negotiate any longer once camp begins. If the two sides don’t reach agreement on a new deal, Wilson will be paid $1.54 million this season in the final year of his four-year rookie contract.

Meanwhile, there was much more optimism Thursday that All-Pro linebacker Bobby Wagner might be able to reach agreement with the Seahawks on a new deal. He also is in the final year of his rookie contract and is expected to receive a deal averaging around $9 million a year.

—Pass rusher Junior Galette met with the Washington Redskins in Richmond, Va., three days after he was released by the New Orleans Saints.

Galette, who has 22 sacks over the past two seasons and just signed a four-year, $41.5 million contract last September, is being investigated by the NFL for two alleged assaults.

—The Cincinnati Bengals signed wide receiver Greg Little, picking him over Santonio Holmes and David Nelson after the three receivers worked out for the team.

The Bengals also waived receiver Cobi Hamilton and placed linebacker Ray Maualuga on the non-football injury list.

Little, 26, signed with the Bengals last season and caught six passes. He was released in February. He was a second-round draft choice by the Cleveland Browns in 2011 and averaged 52 catches over three seasons (2011-13) in Cleveland.

—The New York Giants reportedly will sign wide receiver James Jones to a one-year deal.

Jones told CSNBayArea.com that he will arrive in New York on Friday.

Jones, 31, led the Oakland Raiders with a career-best 73 receptions last season, but the Raiders released him in May after signing former San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Michael Crabtree and drafting Alabama wide receiver Amari Cooper with the fourth overall pick.

—Oft-injured running back Darren McFadden was one of four players placed on the Dallas Cowboys’ list for the physically unable to perform as the team prepared to start training camp in Oxnard, Calif.

The team is light a couple of linebackers as well, with Rolando McClain placed on PUP while he recovers from knee surgery and with Keith Rivers retiring. Rivers signed with the team this offseason, but the 2008 first-round pick decided to quit the game at age 28. McClain also will sit out the first four games of the season on an NFL suspension.

Rookie offensive lineman Chaz Green also was placed on PUP, and linebacker Mark Nzeocha and center Shane McDermott were placed on the non-football illness list.

—Buffalo Bills offensive line coach Aaron Kromer pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor battery in Florida.

His son, Zachery, also pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor charge.

They are scheduled to appear in court for a pretrial hearing on Sept. 2.

Kromer was arrested in Walton County, Fla., on July 12 after allegedly punching a boy and threatening to kill his family.

—The Carolina Panthers made several minor roster moves in advance of training camp.

They signed rookie wide receiver Avius Capers and punter Matt Wile and waived rookie cornerback Gary Peters.

The team also placed wide receiver De’Andre Presley and tight end Brandon Williams on the list for the physically unable to perform and put retiring offensive tackle Jonathan Martin on the reserve list for those who did not report.

—The Buffalo Bills placed defensive end Mario Williams, cornerback Leodis McKelvin and kicker Dan Carpenter on the non-football illness list.

The team also placed tight end Chris Manhertz and cornerback Cam Thomas on the physically-unable-to-perform list.

The team did not disclose the injuries that are sidelining the players. They all can come off the lists any time before the start of the season and begin practicing.

—The Atlanta Falcons placed offensive tackle Lamar Holmes on the physically-unable-to-perform list.

Holmes, who is 6 feet 6 and 333 pounds, suffered a foot injury in minicamp.

Holmes, a 2012 third-round pick, has started 19 games for the Falcons.
