After missing on their priority targets at tight end last week, the Atlanta Falcons on Thursday signed Jacob Tamme and Tony Moeaki.

Tamme spent the past three seasons with the Denver Broncos, and Moeaki was with new coach Dan Quinn in Seattle last season.

The Falcons made offers in free agency to Niles Paul of the Washington Redskins and Lance Kendricks of the St. Louis Rams, but both returned to those teams.

Tamme played six seasons with quarterback Peyton Manning, including his first three in the NFL with the Indianapolis Colts. His most productive season was 2010, with 67 receptions for 631 yards and four touchdowns.

Moeaki joined the Seahawks at midseason in 2014 and finished with eight catches for 134 yards and a touchdown. Injuries have limited Moeaki to 36 games in five seasons. He has 88 catches for 1,143 yards and five touchdowns.

— The Seattle Seahawks, who have been scouring the defensive line market, added two, coming to terms on a one-year deal with veteran tackle Ahtyba Rubin and re-signing tackle D’Anthony Smith.

Rubin had played the past seven seasons in Cleveland, where he was a sixth-round pick in 2008.

The 6-foot-2, 325-pounder twice has surpassed 80 tackles in a season (2010 and 2011) and just finished a four-year, $26.5 million contract.

Last season, an ankle injury limited him to 28 tackles in 13 games — possibly the reason his market was not more robust.

Smith spent the 2014 season on injured reserve.

—The Cleveland Browns reportedly came to terms with wide receiver Dwayne Bowe on a two-year deal.

The Kansas City Chiefs released Bowe last week after they signed wide receiver Jeremy Maclin to a five-year, $55 million contract.

The Chiefs’ first-round pick in 2007, Bowe caught 532 passes for 7,155 yards and 44 touchdowns in eight years. He led the NFL with 10 touchdown catches in 2010.

— A day after the Baltimore Ravens released Bernard Pierce in the wake of a DUI arrest, the Jacksonville Jaguars claimed the running back off waivers.

The three-year veteran joins Denard Robinson and Toby Gerhart in the Jaguars’ backfield.

Robinson led the team with 582 rushing yards (4.3 per carry) last season, and Gerhart gained just 326 (3.2 per carry) in the first year of a three-year, $10.5 million contract.

Pierce was beaten out by Justin Forsett for the Ravens’ starting job last year after Ray Rice was released. Pierce ran for 366 yards and two touchdowns.

—The Miami Dolphins declined to match the Buffalo Bills’ offer sheet for tight end Charles Clay.

The deal reportedly is for five years and $38 million, with more than $20 million guaranteed. Clay would make $24.5 million over the first two seasons of the contract.

Miami gains $7 million in cap space by declining to match the offer to their transition player.

The Dolphins also signed offensive lineman J.D. Walton to a one-year contract.

The 6-3, 305-pound Walton played last season with the New York Giants after previous stints with the Washington Redskins (2013) and Denver Broncos (2010-13).

—Defensive tackle Devon Still re-signed with the Cincinnati Bengals two days after doctors informed him his 4-year-old daughter is likely cancer-free.

Still is a rotational player who spent his first three seasons with the team coming out of Penn State, where he was an All-Big Ten pick.

The Bengals also re-signed cornerback Brandon Ghee, who played in six games last season and 23 overall since he joined the team in 2010.

—Former first-round cornerback Patrick Robinson signed a one-year deal with the San Diego Chargers.

Robinson was drafted 32nd overall in 2010 by the New Orleans Saints but was inconsistent and in and out of the lineup.

Robinson has nine interceptions and recovered from a knee injury that wiped out his 2013 season to serve as the Saints’ nickel cornerback last season.

—The Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed cornerback Sterling Moore.

The one-year deal is worth up to $1.525 million, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media.

Moore, 25, played the past three seasons in Dallas after starting his career as an undrafted free agent in New England in 2011.

Last season, Moore played all 16 games for the first time, finishing with 46 tackles and 12 passes defensed for the Cowboys.

—Blocking tight end Daniel Fells re-signed with the New York Giants.

Fells received a one-year deal worth $870,000 after catching four touchdown passes among his 16 receptions in 2014.

Fells, 31, has 108 receptions for 1,274 yards and 12 touchdowns playing for five teams in his eight-year career.

—Tight end Dante Rosario signed a one-year contract with the Chicago Bears.

Rosario has appeared in 122 games, including 32 starts, over eight seasons with the Carolina Panthers (2007-11), Denver Broncos (2011), Miami Dolphins (2011), San Diego Chargers (2012), Dallas Cowboys (2013) and Bears (2013-14).

Since coming to Chicago, Rosario has started six games and has 17 receptions for 129 yards, giving him 116 receptions for 1,235 yards and eight touchdowns in his career.

—Linebacker Reggie Walker agreed to terms on a one-year deal with the Denver Broncos, according to agent David Canter.

Walker, 28, was released by the San Diego Chargers on March 6. He had played the past two seasons in San Diego after spending four years with the Arizona Cardinals.

After playing in 16 games for the Chargers in 2013, Walker appeared in just 11 games last season, recording 12 tackles.

—The Indianapolis Colts signed Demarco Cox, a former basketball player who did not play college football.

Cox, who is 6 feet 8 and 294 pounds, played four years of basketball at Mississippi, including a medical redshirt, and finished as a graduate transfer at George Tech this season. His career ended last week in the ACC tournament.

The Colts are expected to try him at offensive tackle, where he starred in high school before turning down football scholarships to Alabama, LSU and Ohio State.

The Colts also announced that exclusive-rights linebacker Daniel Adongo signed his tender. Adongo, a former rugby player, spent last season on injured reserve.

— Adrian Peterson’s agent has been told that the Minnesota Vikings will not release the star running back.

Agent Ben Dogra said Wednesday night that Vikings general manager Rick Spielman told him of the team’s decision earlier in the day.

“It was important for me to relay the position the Vikings are taking to Adrian,” Dogra told Fox Sports. “I want to make sure there is absolutely no confusion whatsoever.”

Peterson reportedly flew to New York on Monday for a meeting with Vikings owners Zygi and Mark Wilf, plus Spielman, about his concerns over a return to Minnesota next season.

Peterson has three years left on his six-year, $96 million deal, including $12.75 million next season, with a $15.4 million cap hit.

The Vikings announced the signing of free agent running back DuJuan Harris, who joins the Vikings after spending three seasons with the Green Bay Packers.

—Geno Smith will have competition for the New York Jets’ starting quarterback job, but the third-year player is likely to get a head-start with veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick expected to miss spring workouts while he continues to recover from the broken leg he suffered in December.

Jets general manager Mike Maccagnan said during a conference call Thursday that Smith and third-string quarterback Matt Simms are expected to get a bulk of the snaps during minicamp and Organized Team Activities (OTAs) during the spring.

Maccagnan is in his first season with the Jets after serving as the Houston Texans’ college scouting director, and he acquired Fitzpatrick in a trade with the Texans earlier this month.

Maccagnan flew to Eugene, Ore., to watch Oregon’s March 12 pro day highlighted by Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Marcus Mariota. The team also has scheduled a private workout with Mariota on March 28, and Maccagnan will be joined by Jets coach Todd Bowles.

Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston is widely expected to go to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with the first overall pick, but Maccagnan will attend Winston’s March 31 pro day.

The Jets also agreed to terms with offensive lineman James Brewer on a one-year deal, according to Newsday.
