The Miami Dolphins on Monday signed Pro Bowl center Mike Pouncey to a contract extension that makes him the highest-paid center in the NFL.

The Dolphins also signed cornerback Zack Bowman to a one-year deal.

As reported Saturday, Pouncey’s five-year deal is worth $52.15 million, including $22 million guaranteed and an $11 million signing bonus. The commitment keeps the Dolphins’ 2011 first-round pick in Miami through the 2020 season.

The average of more than $10 million per season surpasses the contract of Pittsburgh Steelers center and twin brother Maurkice Pouncey, who averages $8.8 million per season.

Bowman, a seven-year veteran, could challenge for a starting position opposite Brent Grimes. He has started 28 games, including seven for the Chicago Bears in 2013 and five for the New York Giants in 2014.

—The Green Bay Packers matched the Oakland Raiders’ offer on restricted free agent safety Sean Richardson and re-signed fullback John Kuhn for a ninth season.

Shortly before Monday’s deadline, ESPN.com reported the Packers informed the 25-year-old Richardson that they were matching the Raiders’ one-year, $2.55 million offer sheet that was executed last week.

Richardson saw just 135 snaps at safety last season after recovering from spinal-fusion surgery in 2013. In three seasons with the Packers, he has collected 42 total tackles in 27 games.

Kuhn, 32, gets a one-year, $870,000 deal, according to agent Kevin Gold. His deal also includes workout and Pro Bowl bonuses. Kuhn has spent eight of his nine seasons with the Packers, rushing for 591 yards and 18 touchdowns. As a receiving option, the fullback has 76 receptions for 516 yards and eight touchdowns.

—The Detroit Lions reportedly are contesting the terms of an offer sheet restricted free agent defensive end George Johnson signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last week.

The Lions, who were supposed to decide whether to match by Monday, have lodged a complaint over the three-year, $9 million contract, Lions.com reported Monday.

The NFL will appoint an arbitrator to identify the contract terms that the Lions would be required to match, the website reported. A ruling is expected within 10 days, and the Lions would have two days to decide whether to match.

— The New York Jets signed linebacker Joe Mays on Monday.

Mays has played for four teams in seven seasons. Last year, he recorded 17 tackles in eight games (three starts) for the Kansas City Chiefs.

He was drafted in the sixth round by the Philadelphia Eagles in 2008 and played two years for them before being traded to the Denver Broncos.

He started 21 games for Denver from 2010 to 2012 and played for the Houston Texans in 2013.

—The Tennessee Titans were meeting Monday with former Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston, the favorite to be the No. 1 pick by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the upcoming NFL draft.

The Titans, who hold the No. 2 pick in the draft, announced Monday morning on Twitter that they were meeting with Winston at Saint Thomas Sports Park in Nashville, Tenn.

NFLDraftScout.com ranks Winston as the No. 1 overall prospect and former Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota as No. 2. The Titans brought in Mariota last week for a pre-draft visit.

Winston completed 66 percent of his passes for 7,964 yards with 65 touchdowns and 28 interceptions over two seasons as the Seminoles’ starting quarterback.

Winston will have a pre-draft visit to the New York Jets facility later this week and reportedly will have a private workout for the St. Louis Rams in Tallahassee, Fla., on Saturday.

—Lawrence Phillips, a former first-round running back who is serving a 31-year prison sentence in California, is suspected of murdering his cellmate, according to reports by KGET and NBC San Diego.

Prison officials at Valley State Prison in Delano, Calif., said Monday that they suspect Phillips in the death of Damion Soward, who was found unresponsive in his cell Saturday morning.

Soward, serving a possible life sentence for murder, was one of two inmates murdered at the prison over the weekend.

Phillips was a star running back at Nebraska who was drafted sixth overall in 1996 by the St. Louis Rams. He became the poster boy for failed second chances after many legal run-ins at Nebraska and in the NFL.

—The Pittsburgh Steelers officially re-signed veteran safety Will Allen to a one-year contract.

Allen, who was an unrestricted free agent, is expected to play an important role with the Steelers after eight-time Pro Bowl safety Troy Polamalu announced his retirement last week.

Allen, 32, started four games in place of Polamalu last season and finished with 22 tackles and a forced fumble in 16 games.

—The Indianapolis Colts placed outside linebacker Aaron Morgan on the reserve/retired list.

Morgan was signed by the Colts to a reserve/future contract on Dec. 31, 2013, and was placed on injured reserve on July 27, 2014.

Before joining the Colts, he played in 18 games with the Jacksonville Jaguars (2010-12) and Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2012), making six solo tackles and two special teams stops.
