Indianapolis Colts wide receiver T.Y. Hilton agreed to a contract extension Thursday that includes $39 million guaranteed.

The five-year deal is reportedly worth up to $65 million.

“It’s a great day for the Indianapolis Colts, T.Y. Hilton and his family,” said Colts general manager Ryan Grigson. “We’re extremely happy as an organization to ensure that T.Y. will continue to be a part of our journey for many years to come. His daily excellence on and off the field is a shining example of an individual striving for greatness and what it truly means to be a Colt.”

“I love being here. This is a dream come true,” said Hilton, who has 19 touchdowns in 46 games.

—A court docket for U.S. District Judge Richard M. Berman in New York shows ongoing settlement talks are scheduled between the two sides involved in the case of New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady against the NFL.

Brady is fighting to have his four-game suspension for his alleged involvement in the deflation of game balls in the 2014 AFC Championship Game overturned.

The next scheduled settlement talks in court are next Wednesday. Berman informed Brady and Goodell they were not mandated to attend, a change from the mandatory attendance requirement in the first court session Wednesday.

—A day after he was claimed by the Buffalo Bills, linebacker IK Enemkpali apologized for the incident that led to his dismissal from the New York Jets and said he plans to be a good teammate in Buffalo.

Enemkpali was waived by the Jets on Tuesday immediately after he broke the jaw of quarterback Geno Smith with a punch in the locker room.

On Thursday, Enemkpali said, “I apologize. … It should have never happened. I should have walked away from the situation. I’m very grateful, thankful and happy to be a Bill. I look forward to being a good teammate.”

Also Thursday, the Bills reached an injury settlement with wide receiver Justin Brown and released him from injured reserve.

—Wide receiver Antonio Brown and the Pittsburgh Steelers are discussing a new deal just two seasons into the six-year, $43 million contract signed in 2012.

Upon announcement of T.Y. Hilton’s $65 million contract extension with the Indianapolis Colts, Brown tweeted “Dear God thank you.” Brown is represented by Drew Rosenhaus, the agent who negotiated the Hilton deal.

Brown, 27, had 129 receptions for 1,698 yards and 13 touchdowns last season.

—With running back Arian Foster expected to miss half the season, the Houston Texans seemingly need help at the position. But owner Bob McNair apparently has no interest in signing controversial Ray Rice.

“I think I’d want to talk with our players, and I don’t know that that’s something that they would like,” McNair said. “We want people that fit in our locker room.”

The Texans, who lost Foster to a groin injury, have running backs Alfred Blue, Jonathan Grimes, Chris Polk and Kenny Hilliard.

“I don’t know that (Rice is) as good as any of the four we’ve got,” McNair said. “I don’t see anybody else trying to sign him, so I think that’s a pretty good indication of where he stands.”

—Cleveland Browns coach Mike Pettine said there is no quarterback competition in training camp this summer. Josh McCown is designated the starter well ahead of Johnny Manziel and Connor Shaw.

“What has helped this year is Josh knowing he is firmly the No. 1,” Pettine told The MMQB. “It’s unfair to look back to a year ago and say, well, Brian Hoyer obviously didn’t help Johnny. They were in a competition. The circumstances are different this year. Josh is secure in his job; but, at the same time, he can help mentor those other guys in the room.”

McCown, a 12-year veteran, signed with the Browns in February after he was released by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

—Free-agent wide receiver Da’Rick Rogers has been suspended for the first two games of the season, Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reported Thursday.

Rogers was arrested last September and charged with driving under the influence — the latest in a series of off-field missteps by the one-time SEC star.

Rogers was playing for the Indianapolis Colts at the time of his arrest, and the team released him after learning of the incident. The Kansas City Chiefs signed him after the season but waived him in June.

—The Tampa Bay Buccaneers waived punter Spencer Lanning, leaving them with two punters.

The Buccaneers had claimed Lanning off waivers June 9 from the Cleveland Browns, who had waived him after they had acquired Andy Lee from the San Francisco 49ers.

Lanning had been expected to compete with veteran Michael Koenen, who is due a $3.25 million salary this year. But the Buccaneers signed Karl Schmitz on Monday after trying out four punters. Schmitz, 28, hasn’t kicked in a football game since 2008, at Jacksonville University.

—The Green Bay Packers signed free agent cornerback Ryan White before their preseason opener against the New England Patriots.

White originally signed with the Packers as an undrafted free agent in May 2014 but was released Aug. 30. His latest signing comes after three Packers cornerbacks left practice on Tuesday.

As a senior at Auburn, White started two of 13 games and had 49 tackles, one interception, six passes defensed, a fumble recovery and a forced fumble.

—Running back Tyler Gaffney cleared waivers and was placed on injured reserve by the New England Patriots.

Gaffney had been sidelined since the first weekend of training camp with an undisclosed injury.

The Patriots acquired Gaffney last year after he was waived/injured by the Carolina Panthers, who had drafted him in the sixth round out of Stanford after he rushed for 1,709 yards and 21 touchdowns in 2013.

—Undrafted rookie safety Damian Parms was waived by the Atlanta Falcons.

Parms signed with the Falcons out of Florida Atlantic, where he played 43 games and posted 186 tackles.
