It’s not even Halloween, and Philadelphia Eagles coach Chip Kelly already is facing the barrage of questions about rumors linking him to college football openings.

Trick or treat, Kelly wants no part of the talk. He was peppered with questions about the five openings in Division I, including the headliner at Southern Cal.

“I understand it. We’re not successful. We’re not winning. I came from college. I’m going back to college,” Kelly said of the natural inclination to connect the dots being easier for media and fans because the Eagles are 1-4.

Asked directly about being contacted by USC, Kelly, who coached at Oregon before replacing Andy Reid with the Eagles, said “No, no, no. No.”

Kelly said no college has contacted him or his agent.

—Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant returned to practice on a limited basis on Thursday.

Bryant broke his right foot in the third quarter of the first game of the season on Sept. 13 and hopes to play following the Cowboys’ upcoming bye week. Even if Bryant is up to speed physically and cleared to return, he might not immediately recognize the offense on the field.

Quarterback Matt Cassel will replace Brandon Weeden in the starting lineup in Week 7 and other changes are being considered on offense.

—Oakland Raiders defensive end Justin Tuck is expected to undergo season-ending surgery for a torn pectoral muscle, according to published reports.

Tuck will be placed on injured reserve due to the injury, which occurred in Sunday’s game against the Denver Broncos.

—St. Louis coach Jeff Fisher confirmed that right guard Rodger Saffold will undergo season-ending shoulder surgery after suffering the injury on the 17th snap of Sunday’s game against the Green Bay Packers.

Saffold said he was as healthy as ever when training camp opened in late July, but then suffered an injury to his right shoulder on the fourth play of the first preseason game. He started the first five games this season before further injuring the shoulder against the Packers.

—Seattle Seahawks fullback Derrick Coleman was arrested for vehicular assault and hit-and-run, according to multiple reports.

Coleman was arrested and booked at 1:20 a.m. by Bellevue police and held at King County Jail. The Seahawks announced later Thursday that Coleman has been suspended indefinitely pending further information.

—Odell Beckham did not practice Thursday with the New York Giants because of a hamstring injury.

The Giants expect the receiver to play Monday and the extra day of preparation allows him more time to recover from the muscle strain he said occurred in the second quarter of the Week 5 win over the San Francisco 49ers.

—Pittsburgh Steelers center Maurkice Pouncey is in danger of missing the entire 2015 season after undergoing a second surgery on his left fibula, according to a published report.

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported Pouncey underwent the second procedure due to an infection caused by a metal plate. Pouncey had the plate inserted during a surgical procedure in last August after he was injured during a preseason game against the Green Bay Packers.

—The NFL confirmed a one-game benching for the official involved in the clock mistake during Monday night’s San Diego Chargers-Pittsburgh Steelers game in San Diego.

Side judge Rob Vernatchi will not work during Week 6 after he failed to catch a timing error that resulted in the clock running for 18 extra seconds. The NFL also disciplined back judge Greg Wilson over a separate call during the Detroit-Lions-Seattle Seahawks game on Oct. 5, assigning him to a lower-profile game this week.
