New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady addressed the media Sunday for the first time since his four-game suspension was vacated last week by a federal court judge.

“I love football, I love the sport, and I love playing in the NFL,” Brady told reporters in front of his locker before practice. “To get the opportunity to do it and — certainly with all of my teammates and my friends. I’ve had so much support with my family that’s — through all this. For the last 20 years, I’ve been playing football this time of year, and it feels good to be doing that again.”

Brady said he wants to just focus on football.

“Everything that’s happened over the past seven months, obviously I have a lot of personal feelings,” he said. “I really don’t care to share many of those. I need to think about what I need to do moving forward.”

Brady expressed sympathy for equipment assistant John Jastremski and officials locker room attendant Jim McNally because of the investigation.

The Patriots suspended Jastremski and McNally during the NFL’s investigation.

–The Pittsburgh Steelers placed center Maurkice Pouncey on the team’s Reserve/Injured, Designated For Return List, which means he could return midway through the season.

A player with the Designated For Return listing can return to practice after spending at least six weeks on the team’s Reserve/Injured List.

Pouncey suffered a broken fibula in his right leg in the Aug. 23 preaseason game against Green Bay.

The Steelers signed center/guard Doug Legursky to take Pouncey’s spot on the roster.

The Steelers also signed running back Jordan Todman, who had been released by the Carolina Panthers. The Steelers claimed defensive end Caushaud Lyons, who was waived by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Steelers waived linebacker Anthony Chickillo and released cornerback Doran Grant.

–After trading away Matt Barkley and waiving Tim Tebow, the Philadelphia Eagles added a quarterback, picking up Stephen Morris off waivers.

Morris was waived by the Jacksonville Jaguars on Friday.

Tebow, meanwhile, was not picked up by any team Sunday.

–The reason veteran wide receiver Reggie Wayne was released by the New England Patriots is starting to become clear.

Former Patriots quarterback Scott Zolak, who is now a radio analt for Patriots games, said Wayne requested his release because he did not like the work environment.

Wayne wanted to be released because he thought the Patriots’ “work environment was too tough” and playing for the Patriots was “not fun,” according to Zolak via CBSSports.com.

It is unclear whether Wayne will try to sign with another club or retire.

–The Miami Dolphins claimed former Arizona Cardinals quarterback Logan Thomas off waivers Sunday.

To make room on the roster, the Dolphins placed running back Jay Ajayi on the reserve/injured/ designated for return list.

–The Dallas Cowboys announced they have acquired running back Christine Michael from the Seattle Seahawks, reportedly for a conditional seventh-round draft pick.

–Denver Broncos president John Elway said running back Montee Ball survived the final roster cuts on Saturday because the team still saw promise in the former first-round pick. A day later, Ball was waived as the Broncos made several roster moves.

–The Cleveland Browns claimed offensive lineman Austin Pasztor off waivers and traded running back Terrance West to the Tennessee Titans for a conditional 2016 draft pick.

–The Buffalo Bills claimed center Gabe Ikard off waivers.

The team also waived wide receiver Austin Willis from the reserve/injured list. Willis was placed on the list on Aug. 31.

–The New York Giants claimed defensive tackle Louis Nix III and cornerback/return specialist Asa Jackson off waivers.

To make room on the roster, the Giants released veteran defensive tackle Kenrick Ellis and waived cornerback Mike Harris.

–Houston Texans coach Bill O’Brien said outside linebacker Jadeveon Clowney is ready for the season opener although the Texans may limit his participation against the Kansas City Chiefs next Sunday.

The 22-year-old Clowney underwent microfracture knee surgery in December and didn’t play in any preseason games.

–The Chicago Bears claimed safety Harold Jones-Quartey and offensive lineman Patrick Omameh off waivers.

The team also terminated the contract of vested veteran safety Sherrod Martin and waived tackle Jordan Mills.

–The Atlanta Falcons claimed offensive tackle Bryce Harris off waivers. The Falcons had a spot after reducing their roster to 52 players Saturday. Harris was waived by the New Orleans Saints on Saturday.

–The Tampa Bay Buccaneers claimed five players off waivers Sunday, including quarterback Ryan Griffin and linebacker James-Michael Johnson.

The Bucs also were awarded via waivers defensive end Kourtnei Brown, linebacker Jeremiah George and center Eric Kush.

In addition, the team waived tight end Cameron Brate, guard Kadeem Edwards (injured), tackle Reid Fragel and wide receiver Rannell Hall, while releasing linebacker Jason Williams.

–The Indianapolis Colts claimed defensive tackle T.Y. McGill and guard Robert Myers off waivers. The team waived inside linebacker Amarlo Herrera and waived-injured running back Daniel Herron.

–The Oakland Raiders claimed safety Keenan Lambert off waivers from the Seattle Seahawks and waived cornerback SaQwan Edwards.
