NFL hires ex-White House hand Hogan

At a time of intense public scrutiny, the NFL expanded its work force to include Cynthia Hogan, who was deputy assistant to the Obama Administration.

Hogan will remain in Washington, D.C., largely in a lobbyist role reporting to Paul Hicks, the NFL’s vice president of public affairs.

“Cynthia’s broad experience on a wide-range of public policy issues will help advance our initiatives in Washington and around the country,” Hicks said.

Hogan has a background in legislature and criminal justice. She also was a key figure in Obama’s overhaul of the health care system and was involved in coordinating gun violence proposals for the administration.

“The complex and compelling issues of interest to the NFL and the opportunity to help shape policy on those issues is a unique and exciting challenge,” said Hogan, whose official title will be senior vice president of public policy and government affairs. “I could not be more excited about joining the NFL team.”

From 1985-1991, Hogan practiced law at Williams & Connolly. She received her law degress from the University of Virginia.
