NFL Fun Stats – Week 3
A limited sample size of playing experience may hinder Bills quarterback Tyrod Taylor in keeping the starting job in Buffalo.
NFL Fun Stats is put together to provide a wide range of number-oriented morsels for those who crave the delicacy and geek-dom of NFL statistics, news and notes. If you’re not quoting one note each week, I’m not doing my job. Here are your water cooler nuggets.

Straight games running back Alfred Morris led the Washington Redskins in carries until rookie Matt Jones snapped the streak in Week 2. Against the St. Louis Rams, Jones carried the football 19 times, one more carry than Morris received (18). Now a new streak begins (two games) where Jones has received more carries than Morris in back-to-back games, as he also got the bulk of carries against the New York Giants Thursday night. Washington ran Jones 11 times compared to just six carries for Morris, who now appears to be the former work horse of the Redskins offense.

Yards rushing is the highest single game total ever achieved by Tennessee Titans running back Dexter McCluster in his NFL career. The versatile dual-threat weapon signed a free agent contract with the Titans after originally being drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs (2010). His Week 2 breakout game is more yards rushing than in his previous 12 games with Tennessee, in which he combined for 80 total yards rushing.
2
Tackles and zero sacks for the former No. 1 overall pick Jadeveon Clowney in Week 2 against the Carolina Panthers. Clowney has appeared in six games since last season and still is chasing his first career NFL sack in a regular season game.

Teams remain unbeaten after two weeks of play in the NFL. The list includes the New England Patriots, New York Jets, Cincinnati Bengals, Denver Broncos, Dallas Cowboys, Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers, Green Bay Packers and Arizona Cardinals.

Teams are currently searching for their first win of the season. Amongst the winless are the Indianapolis Colts, Houston Texans, Baltimore Ravens, Philadelphia Eagles, New Orleans Saints, Detroit Lions, Chicago Bears and Seattle Seahawks.

Days separate the last two 100-yard rushing performances by Pro Bowl running back Adrian Peterson. In Week 2 against the Vikings NFC North opponent Detroit Lions Peterson carried the football 29 times for 134 rushing yards. The last game prior to Sunday was Week 12 (2013) against the Chicago Bears in which Peterson ran for 211 yards on 35 carries.
3
Touchdown receptions by Arizona Cardinals Larry Fitzgerald in Week 2 against the Chicago Bears helped lead the team to a 48-23 rout of the Chicago Bears. Prior to his Week 2 outburst, Fitzgerald had a total of three touchdown receptions in his last 19 games.
466
Passing yards by New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady in the teams 40-32 win over the Buffalo Bills. It marks the second-highest single game passing performance by the four-time Super Bowl winner. Brady’s all-time high is 517 yards versus the Miami Dolphins (2011). His top two passing totals (single game) both were achieved in the month of September.
16
Games have been played by Pro Bowl tight end Jimmy Graham without reaching 100-yards receiving. His last game over the century mark happened Week 2 (2014) against the Cleveland Browns, where he caught 10 passes for 118 yards and two touchdowns. Graham has also never caught a touchdown pass against his upcoming Week 3 opponent, the Chicago Bears in three other career match-ups.
9.8
Is the average number of pass attempts it takes for Buffalo Bills quarterback Tyrod Taylor to throw an interception after two games. Taylor has thrown four interceptions in the first two games, but three came against the New England Patriots last week. The limited sample size of NFL experience leaves Taylor vulnerable to making the ill-advised throws. If that number does not diminish, chances are former first-round pick E.J. Manuel may resume the role as the teams starting quarterback.
