Steelers’ quarterback Ben Rothlisberger remains perfect against rookie quarterbacks, and some crazy streaks were broken.

NFL Fun Stats is put together to provide a wide range of number-oriented morsels for those who crave the delicacy and geek-dom of NFL statistics, news and notes. If you’re not quoting one note each week, I’m not doing my job. Here are your water cooler nuggets.

18

– Wins by Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger against rookie quarterbacks. Monday night Roethlisberger faced off against Tennessee Titans rookie quarterback Zach Mettenberger. The Steelers’ won 27-24 improving Roethlisberger’s record to a perfect 18-0 against rookie quarterbacks.

1

– Rushing attempt by San Francisco 49ers Pro-Bowl tight end Vernon Davis in Week 11. It also equals the amount of catches (one) Davis had against the New York Giants as well. Over the last four weeks Davis has been invisible in the Niners’ offense catching only six passes for 55 yards. Mean while continued dropped footballs have plagued his play and one has to wonder if this is the beginning of the end for Davis in San Francisco.

0

– Rushing yards by Pittsburgh Steelers Legarrette Blount on five carries against the New York Jets in Week 10. The unseemly impressive stat line was out matched in Week 11 by Indianapolis Colts running back Trent Richardson. He had seven carries for zero yards. With Ahmad Bradshaw out for the season it is now-or-never for the former first round pick to prove his worth.

5

– Interceptions that were thrown by New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning in the Giants’ 16-10 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. The perception clouds the reality of Manning’s body of work in 2014. Prior to his appalling performance against San Francisco, Manning had four straight games without an interception. On the season he has 11 picks only one more than Andrew Luck, the NFL’s leading passer who has ten.

9

– Wins by the Arizona Cardinals (9-1) are more than the Oakland Raiders (0-10), Jacksonville Jaguars (1-9), New York Jets (2-8), Tennessee Titans (2-8), and Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-8) combined. The five losing teams have recorded a mere seven wins and accumulated 43 losses this season.

12

– Sacks by Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Justin Houston are two more than the entire Oakland Raiders defense entering Thursday’s game, who had accounted for a total of 10.

408

– Rushing yards by Wisconsin Badgers running back Melvin Gordon against the Nebraska Cornhuskers in the Badgers’ 52-24 win. Entering Thursday night’s game, the Oakland Raiders had 630 rushing yards for the entire season ranking last in the NFL. If Al Davis were still alive, Gordon likely would be wearing the Silver-N-Black on draft day after setting a FBS record.

2

– Games separate the 2-8 Tampa Bay Buccaneers from first place in the NFC South. The division leading Atlanta Falcons are 4-6 overall.

2009

– Was the last regular season game a Peyton Manning led football team failed to score more than ten points. The Denver Broncos lost to the St. Louis Rams last Sunday, 22-7, ending a streak of 73 straight games where Manning led his team to double-digit points.

14

– Consecutive regular season games played by the Kansas City Chiefs dating back to 2013 that the quarterback has not thrown a single touchdown pass to a wide receiver. The last touchdown pass thrown to a receiver that resulted in six points by a Chiefs quarterback (regular season) was Week 12 in 2013 against the Denver Broncos. Junior Hemingway caught a 17-yard pass from Alex Smith in the Chiefs 35-28 loss to Denver.
