NFL AM: Johnson, Foster Active
What can you expect from Megatron and Arian Foster today? How fast will the Titans pull the leash on Charlie Whitehurst? Why will the Eagles be sluggish in San Francisco? These questions are answered inside.
In this game day edition of NFL AM, we discuss what we can expect from Megatron and Arian Foster, the Titans granting Charlie Whitehurst his fifth start in his nine-year career, and a turbulent night for the Philadelphia Eagles.
Megatron To Play For Lions
After Calvin Johnson was listed on the Detroit Lions injury report as questionable this week, he will be active this afternoon against the Jets, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Johnson has been battling an ankle injury which has slowed him down. Johnson has been held under 100 yards in each of the past two games, but expect to see a bounce back performance as the Jets will likely be without former first-round pick Dee Milliner.
Arian Foster Expected To Be Active
Texans running back Arian Foster is expected to play today, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rappaport. Foster missed last week’s game with a hamstring injury.
In his place, rookie sixth-round pick Alfred Blue gained 78 yards on 13 carries in Houston’s 30-17 loss to the Giants.
The Texans will take on the 2-1 Buffalo Bills today, who are currently ranked fifth in the NFL in rush defense.
Whitehurst To Start For Tennessee
The Tennessee Titans will be without starting quarterback Jake Locker in their AFC South showdown against the Indianapolis Colts, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Locker injured his wrist in last week’s 33-7 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals, and now the Titans will turn to veteran journeyman Charlie Whitehurst, who has started four games in nine seasons.
It will be a tall task for the Titans to get back to .500 as they travel to Lucas Oil Stadium to take on a Colts team coming off a 44-17 victory over Jacksonville. If Whitehurst struggles, don’t be surprised to see a move to rookie Zach Mettenberger.
Short Night For Eagles
When Eagles head coach Chip Kelly took over he put a major emphasis on health and conditioning. Kelly changed his team’s nutritional habits, monitored sleep patterns and altered the way the team did pretty much everything.
The result has been an NFC East title in Year 1 and a 3-0 start to 2014.
Kelly will undoubtedly be upset as his team didn’t get the requisite sleep last night in their hotel room in San Francisco as someone pulled a fire alarm, according to Eagles linebacker Emmanuel Acho.
Acho tweeted,-”Which cruel cruel Niners fan pulled the fire alarm at our hotel?!”
The 49ers can use any advantage they can get as they are trying to avoid a 1-3 start in one of the NFL’s best divisions.
