Moeller out as Browns OL coach
The Sports Xchange
The Cleveland Browns parted ways with offensive line coach Andy Moeller, the team announced Tuesday.
Moeller, 51, was suspended indefinitely by the Browns while he was investigated for an alleged assault of a woman. The woman, who claimed to be Moeller’s fiance, said during a 911 call that Moeller tried to strangle here.
The Browns did not reinstate Moeller even though he never faced assault charges.
A joint statement from the Browns and Andy Moeller’s representation, Paul R. Sheehy, read as follows:
“The Browns and Offensive Line Coach Andy Moeller have mutually agreed to part ways, effective immediately. While no charges were filed in connection with the recent accusations asserted against him, and which Andy vehemently denies, he has advised the Browns that he desires to devote his full attention and focus on his family. Andy states that this was a difficult decision but the right one for him, his family and the Club at this point in time.”
Moeller was in his second season with the Browns after spending six seasons on the Baltimore Ravens’ coaching staff.
In 2011, the NFL suspended Moeller for two games and fined him $47,000 after he was convicted on a drunken driving charge.
