Moeller accused of strangling woman
The Sports Xchange
A woman alleges that Cleveland Browns offensive line coach Andy Moeller attempted to strangle her during a domestic incident on Saturday.
In a 911 call released by Berea, Ohio, police, the woman said Moeller “just tried to strangle me and beat me up and I’m leaving the premises and I’ve got to get out of here quickly.”
No charges have been filed against Moeller, but the Browns suspended him indefinitely on Monday. The woman told police on Saturday night that she wanted to file charges but changed her mind on Sunday morning.
During the 911 call that came in around 9:06 p.m. ET Saturday, the woman told the operator in a shaky voice as she walked away from Moeller’s home with her suitcase that he had been violent in the past.
“I hate to do this to him,” she said, “but I’m glad I made it out of there in time.”
An argument apparently started when the woman, who said she is from Maryland, was talking on the phone with her son and Moeller wanted to her “to shut up.”
She referred to Moeller as her fiance, but “not anymore, though.”
“I kept telling him to stop and not to hurt me,” she said. “I kept saying stop. At least I got out of the house.”
A decision is expected from the prosecutor in the next few days on possible charges against Moeller.
