Already one of the true wild cards of the 2015 NFL Draft due to injury, Missouri pass rusher Shane Ray was cited Monday morning on suspicion of possession of 35 grams or less of marijuana and failure to drive in the right lane of the highway with two or more lanes.

Ray, 21, was pulled over by the Missouri State Highway Patrol while driving in Interstate 70 in Cooper County. He was arrested and subsequently released on a signature summons, with a court date set for June 30, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported.

Missouri Highway Patrol officer Scott White told the Post-Dispatch that Ray was cooperative with the officer.

According to the newspaper, marijuana possession is a Class C misdemeanor punishable by up to a year in jail and a $1,000 fine.

The NFL Draft kicks off Thursday with the first round.

Ray is projected as the No. 23 player overall by NFLDraftScout.com and a likely first-round pick. Originally thought to be a top-10 selection, he tumbled down draft boards slightly because of a right toe injury he sustained in the Cotton Bowl that kept him from working out at the NFL Combine. Ray said he shouldn’t need surgery, but the ailment is a worrisome situation that teams tracked throughout the draft process.

Add in Monday’s arrest, and Ray’s draft stock is a complete mystery just 72 hours prior to the draft.

On the field, Ray possesses quality first-step burst and get-off explosion to advance his shoulder past the tackle and finish in the backfield. He was the Southeastern Conference’s Defensive Player of the Year last fall as a junior, leading the SEC in tackles for loss (22.5) and sacks (14.5).
