Mike Zimmer May Miss TNF Due To Emergency Eye Surgery

Find out why Mike Zimmer may miss Thursday night football.

During tonight’s heavyweight between the Minnesota Vikings and Dallas Cowboys, the guys in purple may be without their sideline general. In an unexpected scare yesterday, head coach Mike Zimmer was sent to the hospital for emergency eye surgery.

“His status for coaching [Thursday’s] game is uncertain,” General Manager Rick Spielman stated. “I have met with the coaches and players, and we have a contingency plan in place if Mike is unable to coach against Dallas.”

In early November, Zimmer underwent what’s considered a minor medical procedure for a torn retina in his right eye. If Zimmer is unable to go tonight, expect for Minnesota to turn to offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur or offensive line coach Tony Sparano.
