Mike McCoy Plans On Coaching Somewhere In 2017
Find out if Mike McCoy wants to coach in 2017.
The head coaching occupation in the NFL can be a very cruel one, to say the least. Over the past two years, no team has suffered more injuries than the San Diego Chargers. One might assume former head coach Mike McCoy should be given a pass, but that’s not how the business works.
Following the regular-season finale against the Kansas City Chiefs, the Chargers elected to part ways with McCoy after another disappointing season, in which San Diego finished (5-11). Last year, the team only won four games.
“I’m such a better coach now than I was when I first got here,” McCoy stressed. “You learn a lot through adversity. What we faced the past two years, it’s been tough. You can either get up and complain, or you can get up and move forward. … I was taught a long time ago: Don’t complain. Don’t explain. Find solutions.”
However, McCoy expects to be back on the sidelines next year.
“I’ll be coaching somewhere next year,” McCoy said. “I don’t know where yet. I’ll make that decision. Whenever the right decision needs to be made, that’s when I’ll decide. There’s no timetable. I definitely want to be a head coach again. We’ll see what opportunity presents itself moving forward.”
Currently, the Rams, Jaguars, Bills, Broncos, and 49ers are all seeking a head coach.
